Treatment philosophy of this centre is based upon harm reduction. The average dose of methadone prescribed is 60-70 mg.
Currently the centre directly treats 500 patients, with a maximum capacity of about 550 persons. The waiting list is 8-12 weeks.

There is no maximum duration of treatment at present and a waiting list for methadone users of 3-9 months if not at high risk (i.e. injectors, pregnant, under 160. Besides that there is an assessment of 4-6 weeks.

Currently the centre treats 123 patients, with a maximum capacity of 120 patients. In addition 50-60 clients are in treatment via shared care with G.P.’s.
There is no maximum duration of treatment and a waiting list of 6-8 weeks.

Non-attendance, buying/selling or using drugs or stimulating goods on the premises and violence can get patients expelled from treatment.

The centre does not have the possibility to provide methadone to patients who receive methadone in another city/region for a short period of time (for example holiday).

If patients want to enter the programme on a permanent basis the procedures are different. If they are referred from another service and are currently in treatment they will be accepted into service as a priority. A letter should be sent from the referring service giving details of the client and of their treatment regime.
