Consultation Navigation/Consulation Rue Verte
15 professionals work at the consultation bureau of which an internist, six nurses, four psychiatrists, two social workers, and two people involved in administration.
The treatment philosophy is based upon harm reduction offering detoxification and maintenance treatment as well as psychological post care. The average dose of methadone prescribed is 65 mg.
Currently there are 180 patients in treatment. There is no waiting list at this inreach centre.
 
The bureau's offer:
- medical care
- social assistance
- psychiatric care
- psycho-therapy
 
The bureau's demand:
- daily attendance (except during the weekend)
- urine checks
- medical examination
 
Breaking house regulations, violence, dealing and/or consuming illicit drugs in the premises can be a reason for exclusion from treatment.
 
If a patient wants to enter the programme on a permanent basis he has to contact the Consultation offices directly or a third party (drug advisory service, General Practitioner etc) has to refer the patient.
Procedures for taking patient for a short period of time:
The centre has to be informed beforehand by phone, fax, letter or by written authorisation of health administration in country of origin.

- dose and period for which methadone is requested
- references
 
Short treatment is possible for one month.
When visiting patient has to bring a letter from his doctor.
Consultations are administered through invoice to insurance company of country of origin.

Treatment philosophy of this centre is detoxification, maintenance, harm reduction and basic health care. The average dose of methadone prescribed is 80 mg.
 
Currently the centre treats more or less 200 patients, with a maximum capacity of 200 patients.
 
The centre offers:
- medical care
- psychiatric care
- psycho-therapy
- social assistance
 
The centre demands:
- urine checks
- daily attendance at the beginning of the treatment
- mandatory meetings with social work
 
Violence and drugs traffic in the centre can get patient expelled from treatment.
 
Procedures for taking patient for a short period of time of maximum one month : the centre should be informed beforehand by phone, fax or letter. There is no maximal period of treatment for patients living in Geneva.

When visiting the patient has to bring a letter from his doctor. Some patients only go to the centre one’s a week and receive methadone in chemist’s shop.
 
Costs involved are about 185 SF a week.

Currently the centre treats 90 patients, with a maximum capacity of 100 patients. There is no waiting list and no maximum duration of treatment.
