prescribing AND dispensing centre; Region of Bizcaya

Treatment philosophy is based upon harm reduction offering detoxification and maintenance programmes. The average dose of methadone prescribed is 70 mg.

Treatment philosophy is based upon harm reduction offering detoxification and maintenance programmes. The average dose of methadone prescribed is 65 mg (ranges from 10-190mg).
Currently the centre treats 75 patients, the maximum capacity is 100 patients. There is no waiting list.
There is no maximum duration of treatment.

The centre demands:
- daily attendance
- urine checks
 
Violence or non-attendance can get patient expelled from treatment.

If patient want to enter the programme on a permanent basis the procedures are different. Permanent users must be settled in town, this involves an inscription at the city registry mentioning a residential address. They must also register with the public health system. We give advice on how to accomplish these requirements.
The centre is starting a new program focusing on homeless people, both locals and aliens
