In Bulgaria the Methadone maintenance programmes are administrated by the National
Centre for Addictions. Directof of the NCA and head of the MMP is dr. Stefan Stoytchev.

National centre for addiction department of harm reduction.
- The centre employs 6 professionals of which 1
doctor, 1 psychiatrist, 3 nurses and 1 psychologist.
- Treatment programmes are detoxification and
maintenance programmes, harm reduction. The average dose of methadone prescribed is 90 mg.
- Currently the centre treats 210 patients, with a
maximum capacity of 200 patients.
- There is not waiting list since the programme does
not take any more patients.

- The centre has no demands:

- Non-attendance and violence and traffic of
methadone can get patient expelled from treatment.

- The centre does neither have the possibility to
provide methadone to patinents who receive methadone in another region/city and who are
visiting for a SHORT PERIOD nor on a PERMANENT BASIS.
