- The centre employs professionals of which 1
doctor, 2 psychiatrists, 2 social workers and an administrator.
- Treatment philosophy is based upon harm reduction
offering maintenance programs. The average dose of methadone prescribed is 70 mg.
- Currently the centre treats 11 of 275 patients
with methadone. There is no waiting list.
- The centre offers:

- - social assistance
- - psychiatric care
- - psycho-therapy
- - other medication

- The centre demands:
- - urine checks
- - mandatory meetings with social work
- Non-attendance can get patient expelled from
treatment.
- If patients want to enter the program on a
permanent basis there is an investigation needed of a doctor who is specialised in the
field and a social worker. If their advice for substitution treatment is positive the
patient has to find a General Practitioner who will receive the information of advisory
team. The "Amtsarzt" will be informed as well.
- After three weeks of initial contact the patient
receives the final decision an will be transferred to the Hospital in Sopron (in-patient
unit) or he can start substitution treatment under supervision of the Drogenberatung,
prescription is done through a General Practitioner and provision through pharmacy.

- Procedures for taking patient for a short time:
- The centre should be informed beforehand by fax or
letter.
- The information necessary is:
- - identity
- - dose and period for which methadone is requested

- When visiting the patient has to bring a letter
from his doctor.
- There are no costs involved.
- Substitution treatment is taken care of for a
period of some weeks.
