The Morning Countdown
The Morning Countdown consisted of 30-minute informal sessions prior to the first plenary session at an international conference and short video-interviews with conference delegates.
The objective of the Morning Countdown was twofold: first of all, it stimulatedconference delegates to be on time for the first official plenary session. Secondly, it provided a forum for delegates who might not be in the spotlight during official parts of the conference.
The 30-minute sessions in the morning were informal sessions with two hosts and two guests. Topics related to the conference theme were discussed. About 10 minutes of the half-hour session was reserved for short videotaped interviews with conference delegates. These interviews were made the day before the session. Conference delegates were given 60 seconds to say something related to their work or the conference. Subsequently, the videos were edited for broadcasting the next morning.
The Morning Countdown has been carried out 7 times at the International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm and received very positive feedback.
A selection from the 300 interviews, which were carried out, was put on a CD-ROM

Drug related study visits
Over the years, Q4Q (and before the GGD, when Ernst Buning was still working there) has organised over a 1000 study visits for those who were interested in studying the Dutch approach to the drug issue. We have done this with pleasure and from feedback received, we can conclude that very often such visits contributed to the development of new ideas and changes in the work of the visiting experts.
In the past, this project was co-sponsered by the Dutch Ministry of Health and the European Commission. After these 2 organisations stopped co-financing this project, visitors had to pay us to cover our expenses. For some groups, this was a problem, whilst others could afford to do this. However, in the last couple of years, we have also seen other developments: the number of visitors went down and the willingness amongst Dutch experts to receive visitors declined.
Based on the above developments, we decided to no longer organize drug related study visits.
Of course, Q4Q will continue to organize training and Master Classes on a number of topics. Please contact us to get more detailed information.

Toolkit Dutch Drug Policy
On special request of the Dutch Ministry of Health (VWS), Quest for Quality developed a website with information about the Dutch approach to the drug issue. The information is divided into separate chapters in order to enable downloading of specific information to be used in presentations about the Dutch drug policy. Although some of the information is now outdated, we believe that it still gives an interesting overview of how the Dutch Drug Policy was developed. We will therefore keep the link open for a while.
