Drugs & Harm Reduction

Quest for Quality is and has been involved in numerous projects in the drug field, such as training, consultancy for International Bodies and Governments, organising networks, developing education materials and producing videos.

Main emphasis of all these activities has been Harm Reduction. Harm Reduction stands for a practical and realistic policies to enable drug users to cause less harm to themselves and others, it involves drug users themselves into the decision making process and, last but not least, it is non-moralistic. Well-know examples of Harm Reduction interventions are substitution treatment for heroin addicts, needle and syringe exchanges to prevent the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C and users rooms, where drug users consume their drugs without causing nuisance to the neighbourhood.

A big project which is carried out by Q4Q is Euro-Methwork. This is an European network aimed at the improvement of both quality and quantity of substitution treatment in the European Region. Many educational tools were produced (written material, films) and training was/is provided.
